Here is an example of a web empire—just a fraction of my web empire (the creator and founder of DoWellWebTools / YourWebEmpire.com). I have some commenary along the way and each image is linked to the website.
This is our parent company website. This is actually a separate website that runs on Joomla, but I have integrated the tools into it seamlessly. This is why the tools use the dowellwebtools.com, but the homepage uses archieboy.com.

How to Present a Meaningful and Powerful Presentation: for the Scientist and Engineer
Notice I am not using a custom domain here. The course is not popular enough to warrant a custom domain, so at this time I am just using the master domain of the server. I am using Simple Sell to process the payment for enrollment, and the Q&A tool for sales and support.
This is a good example of a site that shares the same subaccount, but takes advantage of different header images and domains for each site. I wanted to keep all these sites as part of the same "family," but not make them the same. The Dr. Bo Show domain is associated with the Q&A tool (the landing page) as well as the blog. The Satire Headlines domain uses the Headlines tools as the landing page, and the Custom Webpages just uses the master domain (dowellwebtools.com).
This is an example of using a domain forwarder rather than a custom domain. The unsecure domain http://www.BestSellerCourse.com forwards to the Online Course tool, then the domain switches over to the secure dowellwebtools.com domain.
